Are We Designed to Fail?

Life was great as we were young. It seems so exciting, telling friends and families what we desire to
become when we grow up. Everything seems so beautiful and we believe we were all going to make
it in life. With time we discover that life isn't as easy as we have seen it to be a few years ago and
success seems too far from us.

We spend time in search of success, trying our possible best to define what success means but
with time, we give up the search. Desperation set in, anxiety takes possession of us and fear of the
unknown holds us down. Then success looks elusive. But is there any hope for us to succeed in life?

In a battle one thought that one would succeed,

and when one fails...

then he's feeling depressed,

he gets angry with himself

and hears self-hatred as a voice,

his failure is all what he does care…

If the same happens with you ever,

then you must not disappoint,

even if others rudely comment to you,

you must remain confident enough,

indulge yourself and to your dreams

devote your time

as even if you lose once,

you'll surely win next time…

Trying again is an achievement for the one who at least try…

And remember,

The world won't have winners

without losers, you see...

so you may lose once

but next time,

a winner you may be...

Even if you lose,

in your heart,

you're deemed to have won

and feel like a champ.

Certainly yes! Research has shown that success may seem difficult in the beginning but if you persistently
keep trying, seeking help when the need be and being focused, with time you will achieve a high level of
success in any enterprise you may find yourself in.

As Oogway said, “One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it. ” Just remember, to achieve
any level of success in life, it takes a lot of time and patience.

Failure is always temporary. Those who never fail will never understand how great the adventure
of life is.
Our most profitable lessons are learned from our failure, and not from our success isn't it?

Just because you fail once doesn't mean you are going to fail at everything. Let me give you some
famous examples - Thomas Edision at age 67, lost his factory to fire. It had very little insurance.
No longer a young man, Edison watched his lifetime effort go up in smoke and said
,There is great value in disaster. All our mistakes are burnt up. Thank God we can start anew.

In spite of disaster, three weeks later, he invented the phonograph. What an attitude! He has failed
approximately 10,000 times while he was working on the light bulb but still he learnt from his
failures and kept moving.

Sometimes we must get hurt in order to grow, we must fail in order to know, sometimes our vision clears
only after our eyes are washed away with tears.

Dan works in an IT company. He earns a lot of money and is single. That means, he spends all his money
on himself. He is a party-animal. He hosts every New Year party, birthday parties, promotions parties
et cetera. As a result, he knows a lot of people and everybody likes him.

Olivia is a high-school teacher. She earns a decent salary and has no complaints in life. Students love
her. Fellow teachers don’t. Every year, on her birthday, she spends all her savings of one year on
underprivileged children.

She sponsors the education of 2 poor girls and one poor disabled boy.
They are in a good school now and aspire to become successful in the future.

One unfortunate day, after coming back from a party, Dan lost the balance of his car and met
with a road accident. Olivia became a victim of a high-speed truck accident as well. Both died
on their way to the hospital.

One year later…

Dan’s parents are devastated. They lost their hard-working son. Employees moved on just after
one month of the accident. Nobody cared, except for his parents.

Olivia’s parents were devastated too. The girls decided to do something on their own to sponsor
their education. They started taking tuition for poor children like them.

Olivia was an inspiration for them and they wanted to uplift others just like Olivia uplifted them. Some months later, Olivia’s
parents came to know about the poor boy she was financially supporting. They decided to continue
helping the boy until he became successful.

10 years later…

The girls are now successful in their lives. One is a dentist and the other is a bank manager.
The boy is a highly-respected government officer. They credit all their success to Olivia and her
parents.

They remember her daily and thank her for her generosity. Nobody even remembers
Dan, anymore. A thousand contacts, hundreds of FB friends and followers, but nobody has
kept him alive in their thoughts.

So, What makes someone a failure in life?

When the entire life is spent by giving importance to materialistic things and personal gain
over important relationships.

A person who didn’t help to bring a positive change in even a single person’s life is a true failure.

What then is failing?

Failing is giving up on your goals and settling for less. Based on this I would say that one
has not failed if she or he persists in the face of challenges. Achieving goals demands
dedication, knowledge and skills.

If you don’t get the desired outcome, you will need to review your strategies and fill in the gaps in your knowledge or learn the skills you need
to reach your goals. I would say that more people fail than succeed because few are able
to show persistence in the long run.

Are we designed to fail?

Research (as explained in the article “Failure is a key to understanding success) has
shown that we will fail, but learning from failures is crucial to changing the outcome of
an endeavour.

Failing faster and readjusting is an attitude that needs to be adopted.
Individuals who have understood that and shown determination are those who become
what they wanted to be.

In Lefkowitz on Failure and success in Medical Research, Dr Robert Lefkowitz said:
“learning from disappointment was essential to his ultimate success…As with everything
in science and life, you have to find your own way.

For me, I focus on what is working. The bottom line is the more you go through failure and
come back through it, the more helpful it is.
